Word Writer allows you to generate and update Word documents by inserting values from M-Files object properties, images, tables, and Excel sheets.
In addition to inserting content, Word Writer enables template-driven document control, allowing you to update styles, headers, footers, and shared content across all documents linked to the same Word template, without needing to modify individual documents.
Word Writer supports the following file actions:
- Insert M-Files Values: Insert text values from M-Files object properties into Word documents. Values can be placed in text, bookmarks, or table cells (specific row/column), as a textbox, or as a placeholder. Lookup values can also be inserted, either as a table or a list.
- Insert Image: Insert images into predefined bookmarks in a Word document. Images can be sourced from a file path or directly from an M-Files object.
- Insert Excel Object: Insert Excel sheets into a Word document as images. The Excel content can come from a file path, an M-Files object, or via search in M-Files. Width and height can be limited to fit the Word page (e.g., A4).
- Insert Table: Populate a Word table using data from M-Files or Excel.
- M-Files source: Values can be retrieved via reference or search; specify the property definitions to insert.
- Excel source: Values can come from a file path, M-Files object, or search. Specify the sheet and range (e.g., A1–C5).
- Replace Header / Footer: Replace headers and footers in Word documents using a template-defined structure.
- Update Styles: Update Word document styles based on the styles defined in the template.
- Copy Content from Bookmark: Copy content from a specific bookmark within a Word template into connected documents.
- Apply Full Template: Apply the full Word template to connected documents, updating structure, styles, headers, footers, and shared content.
